Haiti is the oldest black republic in the world. It is the second oldest independent nation in the West. Only the US is older. In 1804, Haitians wrote their own Declaration of Independence. For centuries, no one could find an original printing of it. Now Julia Gaffield, a graduate student found the Haiti's original declaration. She found it in Great Britain's National Archives in London, England.
