We bought a plantain last week and put it in a brown paper bag. It's been a week and the plantain hasn't ripen yet. Does anyone know a quicker way? Or maybe another way? How do you ripen plantains?

I do not know why you want your plantain ripen. I like green plantain boiled, roasted or fried into chips. I like ripe plantains boiled or fried to make a sweet snack -
Anyway, you can put your green plantain in a warm place and it will ripen. Your plantain is taking too long to ripen because it was harvested before it reached full maturity. Same thing happens when mangoes are harvested too soon - they then take too long to ripen and are never as sweet as should be. In conclusion, tropical crops prefer warmer temperature durign maturity.
