Do you think Noynoy would have won if Cory didn't pass away?

Nobody was happy with Cory's passing but we all know that the only reason why Nonoy ran for the presidency was because his mom passed away and everyone felt sorry for them. Filipinos were also tired with too much corruption and I gues that was not too much of a prablem when Cory was still president. So what can you say my Kababayans? Can you share a thought on my question?

Hello ddaguno, I voted for RIchard GOrdon during the Election, and in months times when he was campaigning, i learned a lot from him and set free from being a blinded voter.people are tired to much of corruption but some of them are doing it with out every one's eye and then they complained if public officials do it. I doubt Noynoy would have run, because it probably was never his intention. All that changed when he was being convinced by ordinary people to run for President. then you know the story.lets just hope people will do sometign as well besides the government to deal with the problem.

Me too. I voted for Richard Gordon and I still think that he would be a better president than P-Noy. I'm not sour-graping or anything, but I really think that most Filipinos are too emotional. Since there are a lot of people born during the Marcos Era (thanks to the baby boomer generation) a lot voted for him. It's like they were reliving the glory days of Edsa 1. Using emotions for deciding is very stupid and irrational for something as big a scale as presidential elections. It's really annoyingly funny to watch people go gaga over noynoy just because he's the son of the late Ninoy and Cory Aquino. If he weren't the child of these two, he wouldn't have won. People wouldn't even give him their 2 cents. He'll just be an ordinary senator working in the background. Or heck he'll just be an ordinary citizen like any of us.

I actually voted for Gibo last May 11 :D The problem in corruption has been engraved in our system since time immemorial and I don't think one man can change that. Noynoy won because of his family's popularity and the Filipinos saw him as the savior of the nation from the corruption that plagued the Arroyo administration. We never learned our lesson from EDSA 2 and 3 - we still let our emotions affect our decisions. Would Noynoy have won if Cory didn't pass away? He hardly made an impact in the Philippine Senate, how would he justify his capacity to run the country?

Yes, If he was not an Aquino I don't think he would have won. Many Filipinos voted him because of his parents' good name. Let's just hope he wouldn't do anything foolish that would tarnish that.

He's now the President of the Philippines, let's just hope for the best that he'll live up to his promises. Regardless of the circumstances on how he won the election, he is now the leader of our nation. We also have to do our part to help him :D

well even if i think that cory is some help to his candidacy but i think his surname has helped a lot more. His parents are really associated as good politicians and even heroes. Even kris aquino has contributed to help him get elected.

There are times in our life that happens unexpextedly. Noynoy was just a simple politician whose aim was to help people and our country on his own little. He never dreamed of becoming a big one unlike other politician's sons and daughter who obviously rides the popularity of their parents. To be a president was meant for Noynoy, no matter how he refuse the call of people. It is a call of people, the true essence of democracy. Cory was called by people, now Noynoy is next on line. It was also a people's power when Noynoy decided to run. Maybe it is destined for Him to be one; to continue the legacy of his father Ninoy. If Ninoy was alive, he should have been a president as well not Cory. We cannot fight back destiny.

I don't think so. I don't think he'd even think about running for the presidency had it not been for the clamor of people around him, especially of his sister. Sadly, most Filipinos based their decisions on emotions, and not much on logical thinking. But, what's been done has been done. He is now the president, and no matter how much he tries if the people will not help him, he won't succeed. All of us should take part in changing the country. Let's all start change within our own selves.

He just used his father and mother's name so he can get the mass' sympathy. He won't win if he's not an Aquino :|
