are you in favor of cremation?

In our place, the practice of cremating the remains of loves ones who pass away is still not so popular. Most families still want their departed loved ones to be buried the traditional way. However, I think many people are already open-minded and are considering the benefits of cremation. How about you? Do you prefer cremation against the traditional method which is burial of the body direct to the ground? What do you think?

Well, I believe, are people are becoming more and more open to thought of cremation. But for the meantime, I guess, it really depends on one's religion and culture. Though in the future, I would expect that people will start to embrace this for practical rasons...e.g, more expensive memorial lots, more expensive coffins. Though in cases wherein there is health reasons for cremation, I guess, this procedure should not be made much of an issue for the health welfare of the public.

In our place we already have electric crematoriums and the cost of using this method still comes out cheaper than the traditional practice of embalming, buying coffin and land for burial.

Many, many years back, the catholic religion was against cremation. I am a catholic and so here are my thoughts about it... Two decades ago, I never even thought of cremation for my loved ones. But after I got married to a likewise catholic family whose members that passed away were all cremated, I had a this feeling that there is really nothing wrong with it. Several years back, the catholic religion accepted cremation. Now, they even have columbariums where you can put the urns of your dearly departed. A little over two years ago, I lost somebody very dear to me. We had him cremated and he stays in my altar to this day. There was a priest who requested that I put him in the columbarium. I never heed. I think that whatever we feel right about the remains of our loved ones should follow unless they tell us to do otherwise before they depart. After all, we are the ones who suffered the lost. Oh yes, just like your country, it is still not very popular in my country.

Yes, I know. We still have to teach ourselves to learn to accept this practice.

I have nothing against cremation if that is what the loved one wanted done. My uncle wanted cremated. But I do respect people belief and religion on this matter. It depends on the person and what they want. If the family is against it for religious beliefs then I don't know what to tell them to do.

I think families just abide by what the dying person wants.

it is always quite tricky to answer this question. I have heard of a LONDON /England LAW.. which forbades the BURNING in the open .. of human remains. while there is a good lot of debate going on, .. I consider that NATURE has done the trick of balancing.. some religions suggest BURIAL into the earth. Some talk of BURNING the body. Some recommend THROWING the parts to VULTURES and MOUNTAIN creatures... while some still believe to attain HOLY-LAND, or SALVATION, if their mortal remains are fed to FISHES and WATER CREATURES. WE have today evidences of Embalming, and preserving for eternity also. ------------so... the debate never ends. and, there is no SURE way of disposing the mortal remains. -------------------------------------------let us see how others react to this.

Personally, I really don't have a problem with cremation. I think that it's really a personal choice. I know that my husband wants to be cremated and I'm absolutely fine with that, as it's his choice and I don't see any sort of problem with cremation.

I always tell my wife that if ever I'll die, have my body cremated. It's a lot cheaper than being buried in the ground. And her usually response to mine? "Don't bother, I'll die before you." :)

For me, if I'll die I want my body to be cremated. I don't want worms or insects eat my flesh. LOL!.. that's just my imagination... If that would happen I can't deal with it. (As if I have sense to feel it!). I guess, its a bit expensive here in our country. Happy mylotting!^_^

Yes I am. I t is not in our tradition here though, most of the time they usually bury their loved ones in a cemetery. I just saw some foreign films that made me want to have cremation since it is easier and less costly. The ashes can be placed in the house too- near the loved ones.

i have told my love ones that when i pass away, i want to be cremated...its more practical, and efficient...coz im gonna decay after all so why not turn to ashes immediately :)
