Do you/Would you donate money to new/unknown charities?

There are many charities that are unknown or new and they claim to be true or old.So my question is,if you find one charity that interests you and appears to you for real,would you donate money to them or wouldn't you trust them?And do you trust more internationally known charities like UNICEF?I mean,if they did put so much money we donate,the world would be much better.What's your opinion?

I would do research on my charities. I don't want to give my hard earned money to some fat guy cutting my donations for his own personal use, and hindering the aid for real organizations to help this god forsaken planet. I would first do research, and give donations to sites I feel appropriate. I am hesitant to give money away, so I make sure it actually goes to a good cause.

but how can you be sure about a charity that the only information you can have about it is coming from the Net?
