Forgiving yourself

Many people don't understand the concept of forgiveness. Sin is band and forgiveness was costly. It took the death of Jesus on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. When God forgives, He does so not because He feels like forgiving us. He forgives us based on the fact that Jesus paid the sentence for sin so that we don't have to pay. Why then, do people not forgive themselves? Forgiven sin is gone forever. You are wasting your time punishing yourself for it. More than that, you are dishonoring God who paid the price for your forgiveness. It's time to let your guilt feelings go! Time to forget what is behind and press toward what is ahead.

Sometimes, i may have a lot of difficulties forgiving myself for doing something really mean and awful to another person who i love and care. As long as my heart was in the right place, and i didn't intentionally hurt another person, then i will forgive myself. The most loving thing, yet the hardest thing i can do for myself, is to forgive myself for doing something hurtful to someone else. If you are like most people, you feel that you should always do things that make others feel good but not vice versa. Although this a great ideal, sometimes you will fail from you ideal and you will have to forgive yourself.

Yes, that is the ideal thing to do. But even if it is hard to forgive, we still have to do what would be the right thing to do or what's best for ourselves and others, and that would be to forgive ourself. There is nothing easy in this life, but we still have to strive hard for the right. thanks!

It is bad to remember the past. When we remember the past and dont forgive people we always keep them in our mind and think of ways to hurt them. This is not good for our heath as what goses round comes round. Forgivesness does not change your past, but it does extend our future.

that's true. When we always dwell on the past and not forgive someone or even ourselves, we will just hurt other people and our physical health even, especially God. What is important anyway is the present and future and ot anymore of the past. thanks for the response.

Well, people can hardly understand such forgiveness because in the first place they don't know that they have sin... knowing what is sin and they are not without of sin is the best way to understand God's forgiveness. They must understand that they are sinful and they can't pay it and the only one who can is Jesus Christ... if they fail to understand this concept they will never appreciate what God has done.
