I remembered something a doctor once told my mother when I was younger and my eyes were swollen shut thanks to being bitten by horseflies. The treatment he recommended was a paste made out of baking soda and water. The other day I was bitten again. The area is red and swollen, and the itching was beginning to drive me around the bend! Having remembered this remedy, I thought, "Why not give it a try?" As I write this, it is literally 5 minutes after applying the paste - and I am itch free and the redness is disappearing! All it took was a tiny bit of baking soda mixed with just enough water to make a paste. Has anyone else had experience with this or other home remedies like it?

We have used this and a paste of meat tenderizer and water. They both work quite well except for my son who is highly allergic to bee bites. I feel these help alot and will give him time to make it to the doctor or hospital.
