So near yet so far

Have you ever felt that you are so far away from Him? Are there times when it seems that your every prayer has not been heard? Do you feel alone even though you knew that there is a God that is always beside you? In our lives, one often comes to this point in time. I am now experiencing this for the past days and is unsure why it came up. I don't even know how I will end it, but honestly, it is eating me up. I can't organize my thoughts, I seem like a blank wall for days, but I am too unsure why and what to do. What do you do when you're in a situation like this?

Yes, I certainly know how this feels. The first thing to know is that no matter how you feel, your feelings do not determine if God is near or far. If He says He will always be with us, then that means He is whether or not we feel Him. God is not a feeling, so we believe that His Word is true whether or not we feel it. I do understand the feeling, though. Here's what I did about it. There was one time in my life when I felt the farthest from God. I have felt this way at times, but this was the worst. I had no desire to read the Bible or pray. So I decided that I would make myself read God's Word and pray with my heart "by faith". Faith has become so cliche, but there are times you have to do what you know is right even when you don't feel like it. Sometimes it takes time for your feelings to like up with your beliefs. So I began spending quality time in prayer and reading God's Word. In no time at all, I began to feel closer to God. I was amazed. Obviously feelings don't mean you are close or far from God. You may feel terrible and God is right there. You simply believe. But the Bible says when you draw near to God, He will draw near to you. So take steps to spend time with God. Pray to Him wherever you are. Read His Word. Spend time just listening to see what He would say to you. And you have His guarantee that He will be near you.

Greetings, I would like to share with you some encourement to your questions and the experience you are going through right now. Not too long ago I was going through, so near yet so far myself. But I want to encourage you somehow to hang in there. When I experience it myself I wanted to know what was happening and why. So I saught the Lord continuely in prayer, then I was reminded to encourage myself in reading encouraging scriptures out loud and continuely to remind myself of who I am in Christ and that the power of the Holy Spirit is still working within me. This indeed encouraged me that I wasn't alone but I still wasn't feeling much of God's presences. Then it hit me, my praise is a weapon as well as prayer and God's word, so I began to praise Him no matter how I felt at the time and continue in giving Him all my praise in song and in worhip with a shout daily and it was working. Then I heard a message from God in one of our services stating that this period of time in our lives could be a result in God testing us whether we will continue to be faithful to Him. This is what I needed to hear to be encouraged when times like this happens that He is always there, He will never leave us nor forsake us. So I Hope this will help you in knowing who you are in Christ, and be encourage by God's Word and no matter what continue to praise Him, He is worthy. May you be blessed and encourage this day.
