Road accident, bigger or smaller vehicles. Whose false??

July 7, 2010 11:12pm CST
I've seen a lot of road accident in my neighbour. Between car and motorcycle, motorcycle and bicycle, etc. In my contry, when there is such accident, people will blame the one who hv bigger vehicle. Like accident between car and motorcycle, they will blame the car. Even its not always the bigger vehicle's false, but they seems don't care. Even when the problem was brought to the police, the police will also take a sides for the smaller vehicle. That makes some of bike and motorcycle riders think that they can act as they like in the road.... What do you think about this condition? And is it also happen in your country?

There are two scenarios here in our country. For the 4-wheeled against 4-wheeled vehicles, the vehicle that is positioned at the back is always to be blame. Even if the vehicle in front cut the road. The other scenario is the 2-wheeled against the 4-wheeled vehicle. This the worst. The driver with the 4-wheeled vehicle is the one who take the blame. This is due to the 2-wheeled driver is an oscar-awarded actor/actress. They will pretend that you made a big damage against them and their ride.

In my country also the person having the bigger vehicle is considered as faulty. If there is an accident between a car and a bike then it is considered as car owner's mistake. And if the same car would had an accident with a truck then the truck owner would have been considered to commit mistake. It have just become a trend and thinking. And I think it is just not right. Sometimes the mistake is also committed by the person having smaller vehicle. I also had such experience when a bike rider just turned out back in front of my car. But I was able to apply brakes at right time and the accident was avoided. But if there had an accident then I would have been accused for it.

I'm glad to hear that U can avoid that accident... Can't imagine what gonna happen if U can't right? My brother had experienced it too. Unluckly he can't avoid the accident. He was driving a car when he hit a motorcycle. Its not his false, but he was blamed for it. Finally he bring that motorcycle bikers to the hospital. He has to pay all the damage that the bikers got. Luckly that bikers don't get a serious injury, so he can't ask for more compensation that he proper to get....

exactly the same here. most often the heavy vehicle rider get blamed for an accident. its too stupid to blame where as all fault go to the other one. once i slapped a bicycle rider for the same condition.

Well, seems like you have same condition as I hv here... I wonder why they keep doing that. Such a bad custom that not easy to remove from people's mind. Thank God I never got such accident, and I never want to. The only accident I got is between motorcycle(luckly I didn't blamed b'coz I'm a girl and younger) I'm also sory to hear that U had experienced such accident

Ya that the standard rule , bigger vehicle has more responsible and usually found guilty first in accidents. However, there is exception and can be argued in certain situation , like STOP LOOK GO junction, where the vehicle did not stop and run out in the junction causing accidents and also rear end collosion , where the back car is always wrong when banging the front car regardless of the front car stopping reasons and such.Tailgatting is wrong.

It really does not matter if the one who is at fault is a bigger or smaller vehicles. Sometimes its the driver who is at fault. But in Manila, usually the one who is at fault are the bikers and the motorcycles. They think they are invisible in the street. They counterflow, they just appear out of nowhere! I hate them!

Believe that is the norm in most countries. But I guess I'm just bullheaded. I always do not let the smaller two wheel vehicle get in my way. They usually do not cross my path once they notice I do not slow down when they try to get close to me. Hey it won't be me rolling on the ground should an accident occurs. Not saying you should follow me though.

well i think it depends on the situation. I have seen accidents that are blamed because of the smaller vehicle. But i think the news will always say the side of the smaller car because they are the most affected by the accident.

I think it doesn't matter who have the big or small vehicle but whose driving it. If the driver is irresponsible on the road he could really bring trouble even if he ride a simple bicycle if he is careless and thinks he own the road many lives will be in danger, because he is not only putting the other driver's life at risk but also the family of that driver who depend on him for their everyday needs specially finacially, and specially the comfort that his giving his family.

ya well i have seen the road accidents and when that is between bigger and smaller vehicles more damage done to the smaller vehicle or person on it. Thats why people blame the bigger vehicle i think some conditions comes like that driver of bigger vehicle cant do any thing . He just try to surview the small vehicle. That is not good to blame the bigger vehicle every time condition should be checked. Happy mylotting.

in my country most often cars and lorries are involved in accidents. I guess it is because there is more big vehicles then motocycles or bicycles. However if there is accidents between the big and small vehicles people are not biasede in the thought as to who is responsible for the accident. But i must say that often saller vehicles tend to go between cars and bigger vehicles when there is trffic jams and sometimes this cause accidents.

Yes this happens in my country too.. driving a big vehicle is easy but when an accident occurs between the big and two wheeler... the car driver would be balmed even if the mistake is on the two wheeler driver ... this is bad and the mind set should be changed...
