If Sting had one match in WWE, who should be his opponent?

Sting - The legendary Sting.

Sting has to be the biggest name in wrestling who has never stepped foot in a WWE ring ever. He was the franchise player of WCW for years, never leaving and sticking through to the bitter end. Then he's been a part of TNA for many years. With Wrestlemania 27 coming up in Atlanta, the home base of the old WCW, it would be the perfect time for Sting to have one WWE match. Let's say Sting and Vince McMahon agree to a deal, with Sting having one match at Wrestlemania 27 and also being inducted into the Hall of Fame. I think that if Sting competed in WWE, you could do no better than Sting against the Undertaker. That is one of the true dream matches dating back to the Monday Night wars. Plus, you could go with the intrigue that the one man who could end the streak might have been the guy who has never competed in WWE. So if Sting agreed to have one match in WWE, who do you think his opponent should be?

Anything other than the Undertaker would be illogical. Both their gimmicks complement each other so perfectly and it's a dream match-up that fans have been craving for a long time. Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen. The secret reveal that was teased earlier this year was the nearest we'll ever get, I'm afraid. Both men are on the borderline of retirement and it's so depressing to see Sting spend his final days in the joke of a promotion TNA.

nice discussion here. would love to see sting wrestle in a wwe ring and with what you mentioned about wrestlemania 27 happening in atlanta, it maybe the opportune time to stage such an epic match. the ideal match-up for sting, for me would be randy orton. imagine the legend killer goading sting, a legend in his own right, to step in the ring with him. building up to wrestlemania, orton mouths off and shows clips of his previous matches. he tells the wwe universe that he has defeated a long list of legends but there is one legend who he has not yet defeated because that legend is afraid to step in the ring with him... orton goes on and says that the legend is so afraid to meet him, that he has not even step foot in a wwe ring... orton reveals the legend's identity as no other than sting. he issues a public challenge to sting to face him at wrestlemania 27. in the weeks leading up to wrestlemania, orton goes on a rampage in all three wwe shows, raw, smackdown, and nxt, interfering in matches and beating up superstars in all three brands to get sting to face him in wrestlemania. of course, there's no sight of sting and come wrestlemania, orton steps in the ring and continues to tell everyone that the famous sting is afraid to face him. he goads sting and basks in his own glory and lo and behold the light turns down and from the crowd steps out sting. wrestlemania fans are treated to an epic match between sting and randy orton. both wrestlers hit their finishers and get multiple near pins. the match goes back and forth and sting looks poise to secure a victory but out of nowhere, the viper comes up with an rko and puts sting in his back and covers him for the win.

Orton and Sting would be a pretty good match. I think they could do some fun stuff with something like that and the story leading into it would be epic, paying off to a good match. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

i'd say bring back the Rock. get him buffed up again. and let those two open up a can of whoop-a$$ on each other... that would be a real good match, and fans of the Rock & fans of Sting will definitely flood the arena to get a piece of the action

I remember reading a rumor a few years back that the Rock said he would come back for one match but only if it was against Sting. I don't know how true that was and if things have changed, but that is interesting. Still, Sting and the Rock would be a dream match for sure. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a time day and thanks.

I used to be a huge fan of Sting back in the day. I really wish he'd come to the WWE, Monday night Raw to be more specific. My husband and I don't watch anything but Raw and Smackdown. The other shows just don't hold our attention as much. I agree that the Undertaker would be the perfect person for Sting to compete against. I would love to see him take on CM punk as well. I can't stand him! lol

Punk and Sting would be a great match I think. For some reason, Sting just seems like the perfect opponent for someone like Punk, because he compliments Punk's style in the ring. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
