Would you ever tell a friend a secret if

I find it strange whenever a friend whom I just recently met starts telling me his/her secrets, even the not so good ones. Strange in a way because we have just met and barely 2 months in the friendship comes the stories that are rather private and which I think should be told to a long time friend not to a friend of 2 months.
It has left me thinking if the stories are true or just plain make believe stories. how would you deal with the situation and the person? Can you also tell important and sensitive details of your life to a person you have only known for a very short time?

Personally i feel a lot better telling strangers my secrets, it lets me get things off my chest and i dont know these people well enoguh to really care what they think, unlike with the friend i would feel awkward around them if it was something life changing.
