Friday Blues

Today is Friday. What a day already. My friend just called and told me she is having some health issues. We were to go out to dinner tonite with her hubby in tow and I know she was really looking forward to this. Her husband normally does not want to hang out with us! She is a bit depressed because of all the doctor visits, pills, shots and whatever else she has to do, so when I invited her to dinner it made her happy. She picked out her outfit a couple of days ago, what she would wear today. I am sad for her, because she was looking forward to it and so was I. Earlier this morning I was just fuming over an Avon order that I expected to be delivered today. Part of it was my fault, but I really thought it would come today and not on Monday. I put the add on order in on Tuesday. I had found 4 customer orders that I neglected to put in last week with the regular order, so I had to make a special order for these folks and that is the one I placed on Tuesday. My order was on hold, so I paid them. Still on hold a few hours later. Since my credit card is maxed, I use it only for Avon, I had to pay them out of my personal account. They still had it on hold. I contacted my manager, and told her they want all of the money I owe including this very last order that normally would not be due until the next order goes in, and that would be this coming Monday. So finally on Wednesday she let me know, close to 11 pm that it will be released for $30.00. Ok, so I expected a payment to go onto the credit card at midnight. I paid Avon $35.00, and fully expected it to be at my door today. I checked the website and it is still in the 'billed' section and not even processed yet! Normally when Avon gets an order, even if it goes on hold, they pack the order and it is ready to be released when it is paid. It was not the case this time. This time they waited until I paid the $35.00 before they processed it, and I am fuming. As I said, it was partially my fault because I did not put the orders in on time, even so, I did expect they would deliver it, I could see those customers tonite and over the weekend and still get orders to place on Monday for the next order. Now what do I do? I need to collect the money, obviously I am in debt with Avon and my credit card, and need the orders to go in for the next campaign. Now I have to let these customers know the order is not coming and they probably will not order this time anyway since they didn't get their other order. That puts me in more of a bind, because my orders have been so small anyway that I am barely making any money. I have been selling Avon for 9 years, and I have never had an order put on hold this long nor have I ever had to wait more than 2 days for it to be delivered when it was on hold. I have paid orders as late as 8am and still got them the following day, so I cannot understand why that order did not ship. If I had known this, I would not have bothered working so hard to get that order. I was actually going to quit selling it if I could not get it by today, and here it is today and it will be here Monday, when I have to submit the next order. Now I have to explain to my customers that the order will not be in and I must be careful how to present the problem because if I look to them as ditzy as I am, they may not order from me. If I let them know my financial troubles with the company, they may not order from me.

You know, if these are regular customers and their orders have been on time in the past, I don't see why they would drop you over one mistake on an order. You've probably already handled this anyway, but if it were me, I'd just explain, be very apologetic and let them know you'll be more careful next time. Frustrating though, the part of it that's out of your control on the Avon side...
