Dear Friends, We have come to know that many local people are involved in the poaching of Leopard in Uttarakhand (specially in Garhwal region), India. According to our information peole from government machinery is also involved in this crime. There is a complete nexus of poaching racket. We are working on saving leopard and elephant and other endangered and (unsuccessfully)protected wild life animals. We sensitize local community, generate awareness among them regarding the related issues. However, we are now disappointed. Government Machinery in Uttarakhand, India is full of corrupt people. I request responsible members to suggest how we can save these animals. please write to us. Avanish Kumar, Development Insights for Sustainable Action (DISA, Dehradun)

Dear friend, If you have any objection on any point made in the discussion then you should be specific. Please let me know what violation you are talking about. What is wrong in what and then give you suggestions. The fact is that we are working at the grassroots level without the help of government and any major funding agencies. We are facing a genuine need to initiate discussion on how to protect the wildlife in a very opportunistic environment created by greedy mafias and people associated with government. Please be specific about what is wrong. We will certainly respect the genuine objections.
