Do you still have a childhood friend?

I do. I have a friend I met when I was 9 or 10 years old. Many things have happened to each of us in rather long lives, including her living in another country for many years. But we are still best friends and now, with msn, skype and all the new technology, we can have long phone visits everyday and send each other pictures of the family. The last time I saw her was in 2006. I was visiting a niece in Mexico and she came to visit too. We both slept in a bunk in the floor. She made the bed because I have my back surgery and she has been in yoga for decades now Do you have a friend from childhood? How is your relation? How long has it lasted? Our friendship is around 55 years old

I have a childhood friend who is in my village. I work in town so when I go home for hoildays, I would bring him to my house and we would spend hours talking of our young days. Since he failed school and stayed in the village, I give him presents I bought from twown. I enjoy see smiles on his face.

I sweet of you! But I´m sure that you get a lot of pleasure when you give him your presents. I have learned that the pleasure of giving sometimes is bigger than the pleasure of recieving. I hope you and your friend continue your friendship forever.

Don´t let her do away, freind. Now, with all the technology, we can keep in contact a lot better than before.

She has disappeared from facebook & I have tried her email address & no response (it's a hotmail account) so maybe I will have to resort to the old fashioned letter writing & send it to her parent's house.

I have this feeling with Monica (and she shares it) that we are each other´s diary. Many times we just begin a sentence and the other knows how to end it. I had not seen her for over 10 years when we met again, about 20 years ago. Everything fell into place as though we had never stop seeing each other.

A fifty five year old friendship, that’s great! It is a real gift to have such an old and dear friend. I no longer see anyone from school. I went to school in Italy for the first five years and we moved to Australia when I was ten. I did keep in touch with my Italian school friends until I was sixteen and I went back to visit them all. It was nice to catch up and amazed at how we all changed in six years! I caught up with them again at twenty five when I travelled to Italy again but that was the last time. I have been back since but could not get in touch with anybody. As far as friends from school in Australia I only have one on Facebook from sixth and seventh grade and that is about it. Shame, I would have liked a good old friend like you have…

Hi There, I have to appreciate the fact that int this world friends are like family to us and they form a big part of our lives as when we get to a place where we are not known and don't know anyone we make friends to act as family to us and be a big part of our lives where we seek comfort and a sense of belonging. I do have a friend whom we began school with when we were like 7 years old. they are two of them and now we are 23 years each. the two are now in the U.S as they won greencards last year December. i just wish Australia did have greencards too as thats my country off choice. Technology has helped me find long lost friends on the internet like facebook and now even we are on Mylot. i am happy that we keep in touch and that life has to go on since we all have different interests and we share a lot of the past when life was so simple full of playful games and no worries. Now life makes us have little time with our friends due to the fast modern life but what i believe is that we should not let our friends go but keep in touch always.! Cheers Mate..!

I cannot but envy such relationship, I have not been, should i say, commited enough to keep that long a friendship. I am a little sceptical about friendship probably because of some experiences of the past so I tend to keep people at arms length. I think its safer that way but your kind of experience makes me wonder if Im right. I would really like to know hoe it feels to be friends for such a long time...

I think one cannot judge friendship from a bad experience nor think that all friendships are wonderful either. I never keep people at arms lenght because I have the idea that we cannot judge everyone for what one person has done to us. If I were you, istead of envying me, I´d see where my childhood chums are now and if I have something to say to any of them. Take care.

The one I am touch with from the farthest back is somebody I met in elementary school when I was probably 8 or 9. She found me on classmates.com and e-mailed me. We aren't in touch all that often, but we do drop each other a line once or twice a year. After that, I am still in touch with two people that I knew in Jr. High and High School and a half dozen college friends.

i still have one friend whom i met during our childhood. she is actually one of my best friends. we were classmates in our grade school too. we still meet regularly with other friends until our college days. when we starting working, we separate ways. i went across the country and she went out to seek a better future. she now works in one arab country. we still find time to get in touch through instant messages and emails, and through social networking sites like facebook. we came to meet the last time, about 3 years ago. she happened to took a month long vacation with her family. and at that time, my mom was still alive but already bed-ridden. i hugged her and kissed her when i see her. her husband and kids were shocked.

Hiya margi, I have friends who I did´nt realize were my Friends they are not best friends but they are friends that will gladly help you out when you most need it. I have been able to find many things out about other situations going on in England that would have gone totally unnoticed by me. So thanks to these kind of friends I am much wiser and happier in spite of the fact that I have had so much against me there are so many people in one area where I lived that know me better than my own so called Relatives. I went to School with them and in spite of the time that has gone by they still hold a flag for me and me for them. That´s very nice to be able to have a friendship like that I was not able to have friends like that for a few reasons out of my control. But that is a nice story.

Yes i had a couple of childhood friend when i was 5 years old and we used to be inseparable. We always used to laugh and talk and have fun with each other and we also used to play together. Now i am 19 and although they have lost contact with me for a couple of years i managed to find them and they haven't changed one bit. We were like the three musketeers. We still remember each other very well and i thank facebook for reuniting us once again.
