Bob Sheppard the voice of Yankee Stadium

I was disappointed and saddened to read yesterday that Bob Sheppard the man behind that familiar and comforting voice of Yankee Stadium had passed away. I can't imagine going to a Yankees game and have his voice be absent except when Derek Jeter steps to the plate and a recording of Mr.Sheppard is played. Nothing lives on forever but baseball has been a way of escape from life's troubles for me and now the atmosphere in the Bronx will be different, as a voice heard by generations will be something of the past instead of a seemingly magical rite of the fan.

This really is sad news. His booming voice was always a staple in the old Yankee stadium as well as the new stadium. I'm just happy he was able to experience another title with the bombers last year. This year will be for you, Bob.

Yes it is sad, but few live to be 99 and he sure was good, not only for himself but to others too. He will be missed.
