Below is a news article about a Pakistani hotel cleaner handing in - what amounts to £33,000 left in one of the rooms by a Japanese worker. The quote that made me smile the most was this:- "My duty with the hotel and my family upbringing teaches me nothing else," he said. "Times are hard for everyone, but that doesn't mean we should start stealing and taking things which do not belong to us." What an amazing guy! The question is; what would you do with the money? I would definitely hand it in, especially with it being in the workplace, so to speak. Anything going missing and cleaners are - generally the first to get the blame but I have come across many honest cleaners in my times abroad. They do a great job. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/10603417.stm

That is great news to hear. If it was me I would hand it in also being in a work environment like that. I have found $500 before in an envelope that was tucked down the back of a seat in a car that I was working on. I handed it in to the office and they rang the customer. He said it was his private stash that he kept secret from his wife and he had forgotten that it was there. He came into collect it and gave me $10 for being so honest. How generous of him!

Thanks for the BR Jane! Yes it was not much of a reward, but better than nothing I guess!

The moment you started this discussion is the time our moralities no longer exists. Many people have faded to be greedy and shameless. It is not a worst time of our world but actually a hard time for everyone to survive.

Did the article cheer you up though because that's why I posted it..to make people realise that there are others that - despite hardships of their own, refuse to sway from their principles of honesty and decency and "do the right thing." Obviously, there are those who would not be like that chap in the article BUT I believe that the majority ARE. Oh yes, before you ask, OPTIMISM is my middle name. This is what keeps me going in life and always will.

OH I'd hand it in. 1. it's the right thing to do, 2. the other person may really need it and 3. I certainly don't want to get caught

I would hand it in too for the same reasons as you.
