Paying it forward

Have you heard about this concept of paying it forward? I heard a story about some customers of starbucks doing this. They pay the bill of the next customer and just expect the next person to do a good deed to another person. I think that this is a good way of spreading good deeds. What is your opinion about this? Have you ever done this?

I'd like to do this. My dad's been sick a lot lately and finances are down, but a good aunt is extending so much help to us. I have a friend whose sister has a big hole in her heart, and I'd like to pay my aunt's kindness forward by helping my friend's sister. There is that movie of the same title and concept - the cute kid from The Sixth Sense starred in it.

It really is a good thing to do. I think helping another person is another good way of being thankful that you are being helped.

I have heard of this and I really like the idea. Oprah actually did a whole show on this a while back. Back when gas prices were higher than they are now, there was someone who was randomly going up to people and offering to pay their gas bill for them. I think people would realize they would feel much better about themselves if they helped others without the expectation of getting something in return. Paying it forward is a great way to spread good will.

If I can I try to do it. I know it sounds strange but I had extra washer fluid for my can and I asked the next person I saw if the needed it. I was really suprised how greatful she was. If I can I will help out a friend. I took one friend and her daughter to lunch so she would have some time out of the house and it was really fun to let our daughters hang out. I knew she was short of cash but at the time I wasn't so I was happy to pay. For the same friend she has been having hard time and all her daughter wants to go see a movie. So we got together to swim and just gave her a card and told her to open it when she got home. It wasn't much but enough so she could take her little girl to see the movie she wants to see. It felt really good. I live by a simple rule never loan money to a friend that you can't afford to get back. So even if they want it to be a loan I don't expect it back after all it is just money its not worth loosing a friendship over. I also try to help people at the store if they can't reach or find something. I have also shared coupons with people if I see they have something I have a coupon for, again its not much but make me happy to be able to help out in some small way.
