PAGASA scolded by Noynoy

I believe that PAGASA should not be scolded because they did not have the latest technology used by other countries to forecast the direction of storms. The government under the previous president Arroyo didn't supported PAGASA with the sufficient funds for more accurate weather reports that is why it is not their fault. It has been years since PAGASA have been blamed when there are only fourteen meteorologists left. Shouldn't the government be more concerned with funding PAGASA instead of keeping the country's money in their pocket? One day we might not have any meteorologists any more because of brain drain. If the government knew that other countries like Singapore hires the meteorologist with salary over one million pesos yearly and if they had stayed for four years with accurate reports their salary goes as much as four million pesos they'd realize that our meteorologists that stayed here are very dedicated to his/her country.

Hi Oxyde! President Noynoy has the right to scold PAGASA. Yes, their technology is ancient, but that doesn't mean they are excuse to make a large amount of "mistake". They already know what their problem is and the solution for it. They keep quiet about it. Your President just gave them a wake up call. And besides, even if their tech is not up to date, they should know what's the best way to utilize it. "Ancient" people with their limited technology can predict much better weather than our PAGASA can. The problem is most of our countrymen are complainer. They rather sulk and complain about a problem than have a solution and do something about it.

Yes, it's true that they are also to be blamed because they are not able to utilize their instruments properly but if the government funded them before properly then maybe they would be able to get accurate forecasts. I know that Ancient people were able to predict but the degree of intelligence of those from ancient civilizations is different from our civilization. And moreover, there are only fourteen meteorologists left. Why do you think they didn't left the country to be meteorologists there? One probable reason is they are not competent enough or qualified for other countries.

well i have seen some of the instruments used by pagasa and they are ancient. They still use lo tech stuff for the predictions. i have never really trusted pagasa with my weather its always "walang pagasa". how many years did we experience wrong inaccurate predicitons. When i was in highschool the school was cancelled because of the predicted storm but in that day, nothing happened but the day after that. that's when all hell break loose. And all we can do is stay in school even if they announced that school is out.

I remember that incident too. I was in high school then. It's true they have low tech equipments but that doesn't they are to blame. The meteorologists in our country used to be 40 now there are only fourteen. No wonder they'll leave because they are blamed here when they are paid millions a year in other countries.
