I think there is an alternate version of paypal. Right now I have a personal account and I was wondering what the other version was and whether I should upgrade. Is it better? Are there extra fees? What's the deal?

If you are an Ebay seller and sell lots of stuff on ebay then a premium account is good to have. You can accept any and all kinds of payments. One benefit that they do not make well known is you can get a paypal debit card. You must link your bank account to paypal. It is free. Actually you will make a couple cents doing it as they make 2 small deposits to verify your bank account. The disadvantage is when someone pays you with paypal there is a nominal fee. It is usually so small compared to the payment that it doesnt really bother you. I hope this helps you. Also, you will have the option ONCE to switch back to your personal account if you don't like the premium account.

You can have both a personal account and premium account at PayPal. If I remember right, the personal account has certain limits on the amounts you can transact esp. if you have an unverified (i.e., without a bank account linked to your PayPal account). The premium account allows payment by customers to your PayPal using credit cards. I think there are fees involved. In any case, since you can have both accounts, just add a premium account later if you need it.

Okay that sounds good. But can I still get paid if my account isn't verified. I'm just going to request a check instead of have it put into the bank.

You can receive payments to your PayPal account and pay for your online purchases even if you have an unverified account, but there are limits. I'm not familiar with getting your money via checks. Since you live in the U.S., I suppose that's easy for you. But even then, if you are getting regular payments to your PayPal account, you might as well attach a bank account to your PayPal account and get it verified. If you don't have enough cash in your bank account (like me), wait until you have enough in your PayPal balance and then, open a bank account a little bit of pocket money and fill it with your online earnings.
