Is mylot overly optimistic?

I agree that most people here are friendly and are not mean in their responses. However, things do get messy during political discussions. I also see a lot of not-so-friendly behavior when (unfortunately, too rarely) people discuss being atheist.

To know the other side of the coin, one must experienced it,soon you will be getting comments the way you don't like it...there are Pessimistic views that you will get someday,be prepared for it,handle it positively...Not all People here in MyLot agrees with what you Post,always put yourself in the balance...some say the truth,some say Lies,all myLotters are mixed of all the race in the world, mixed with culture,upbringing and experienced in Life...and remember that sometimes a negative view can be a positive one, vice versa....its about how you accept things..thanks!

But that’s the reason why people like it here, it’s nice, it’s friendly and helpful. That’s not to say there isn’t any nastiness as occasionally it happens, but between myLot users and the staff it gets stamped out very quickly. And compared to similar sites it’s one of the best and most welcoming, especially if you have experienced the abuse you get on some other sites. I am sure some people do avoid saying the truth in fear of negative ratings, but there are just as many who don’t worry about such things because things generally get sorted out for the better and someone who may not like what you said because it’s the truth can end up a friend on here.

The majority of people on mylot are very nice, but I have had people respond to discussions with rude or insulting comments- a few have been downright mean. I'm the kind of person who chooses to respond only when I do have constructive or good things to contribute. If I can't I usually don't respond at all, which might be one reason there's not many negative responses. There is also the possibility that people are afraid of getting negative ratings.
