WHenever my friends talk about anorexic, they say mention the French girls or the ones in England. I was wondering why and I asked them. They said there are a lot of anorexic girls in those places. Some says they can relate this word to models. What about you?

First thing that comes out of my mind when I hear anorexic is a model or fashion models. They push their body to the limit so they can wear a luxurious outfit created by popular fashion designers. A number of them are obsessed in keeping a skinny physique not realizing the importance of a healthy body. If they stay focused in keeping back their healthy body then it will be back to normal within a year or two.

Anorexic..? To me it means silly girls with very well defined cheek bones. Not su much models, cos they have an image to uphold so should watch their figure more than some anorexic who just becomes too skinny...

Anorexia can be related to anyone who wants to lose weight and goes through extreme measures to do so - starvation being the main one. A person who is overweight could be anorexic. It is not only related to skinny people or models, so you never know who is anorexic. Also, people always look to skinny people and think they are anorexic but this isn't always the case. There are healthy skinny people, while there are starving overweight people who will in a few months become skeletons.

oh yeah that is so true when I've done a research about this even at the age of 10 children in that country develop this kind of eating disorder. Anorexic people are unsatisfied with their body and the only way to compensate their weakness is through starving.

Anorexic girls and boys ( although anorexia is rarely found in boys) can't only be found in France and England. Here in the Netherlands it's a huge problem, mostly among young girls starting from as young as 12, damaging and putting their life at risk. Back when I was administered in a psychiatric hospital, I lived between 4 girls having anorexia and 3 having OCD or anxiety disorder . I was diagnosed with the latter. One of the girls was force-fed trough a gavage and I experienced times in which it was absolutely a madhouse when they had to eat fried food. So yeah that's my connection with anorexia. ;)

What comes to my mind is ME. I used to be anorexic when I was 19. I think it started when some of my friends told me I'm getting bloated. I started to hate food. I count the calories I take each day. I feel good whenever I'm hungry and my stomach would contract because I thought I was losing fats. Good thing it only lasted for a like 3 months. I got hospitalized. It's another good thing that I didn't become bolimic. That would have led to something worse.

When I hear the word anorexic I usually picture young women who are really thin and are sickly. I also think of models sometimes. I guess people would say that there are a lot of anorexic women in europe since there are a lot of models there and they strive to be 'thin' and end up having a habit of not eating right.

When I hear that word, the first thing that comes to my mind are insecure girls who go to the toilet after every meal and barf everything they ate. I also am reminded of an article I read in a magazine before about anorexic girls: they are dying to be thin. Literally DYING. Their ribs poke out of their chest but they still think they're fat. So pathetic.

Yes that is what I would relate the word to is a "model" so much pressure to be thin by an industry. Too bad the women in society can't even fit into half the outfits. I don't think of them just in those countries but others as well, like the United States. It's hard starving in this country.
