In many descriptions of alcohol it is a depressant. My question is why is it a depressant when it makes people more dangerous causing harm to some like beating someone up? I'm not saying drunk just buzzed.

It is a depressant because it makes people feel emotionally angry or upset which causes them to pick a fight or get into trouble. It also makes you much less inhibited and so you feel more aggressive and violent which they would not be in a sober state. Of course this is not the case for a lot of people, but those who already have a tendancy to have a more aggressive nature, or who have a history or depressive behaviour are more likely to react in this way when having had one too many.
