Is Social Networking websites really fun???

I think it is just a marketing ploy. Just get everyone to join up by convincing them that it is the latest "in" thing to do. My view is that social sites are amongst the most un-social or antisocial activities that you could engage in. Apart from that, they are so boring! Isn't it a newer kind of chat? Except that you don't expect a reply. No, this is just a trend that will never last.
