I have just received a photo from my daughter who is expecting a baby in September. Her husband has just being practising putting on a nappy - not on a doll - on the gunea pig!!!!!!! Photo enclosed. Have you seen any weird preparations for pending parenthood??

I think that is one of the most outrageous things I have heard. Good for him to want to learn, but poor guinea pig.

The Guinea Pig thinks he is human, he is the most cuddled and petted animal you can ever imagine!! I think he is going to be very jealous when the baby arrives!!!

Oh I just love this photo, what a great dad he is going to be, and that nappy is so neatly put on as well lol. I have to say though I have not come across anything quite like this, in preparing for parent hood. I think your daughter is very happy to have such a hands on Daddy!! Justin's Dad would not go near a nappy!! Hope she is doing well.... what's her due date? Not long now!

She's due on the 19th September and completely fed up now, they've had everything ready for ages - hence Sean putting nappies on the pets!!! He is so excited, he's a bit like a big kid himself!!

It looks like he did a super job of putting that diaper, oops, nappy, on! Let's hope he does as well with the baby! Also, although the guinea pig is awfully cute, I hope the baby is much, MUCH cuter! I tried sleeping throughout my pregnancies because I knew I wouldn't be getting a good night's sleep for years after I had my babies. Nah, just kidding, although I did rest a lot. My ex couldn't care less because all he really wanted was for me to be "barefoot and pregnant" as he put it, most likely because he knew the kind of man he was and was hoping I wouldn't throw him out the door if I was pregnant. Now, weird preparations? No, I don't think I've ever noticed any preparations that were weird, although I've seen some pretty weird cravings from pregnant women. I craved steamed crabs with my first son, pickles with my second. Nothing really weird about that.

Perhaps pickles and crabs together would have been a little weird!

Hiya chem, I like that photo that is cute I wonder what the pet thinks? I have not seen any odd ways to learn about being Parents for ages. I held a Baby in my arms for the first time in yonks and I can see I have not forgotten a thing either. Congrats to you and your Daughter though and of course the Dad and not forgetting the Grand dad. Also the other future Nan and Grand dad of the other Family.

Oh no, I never seen that before. When I would have our first baby (around 4 years ago), I didn't do any preparation for myself. I believed that I could do that without any practicing. Perhaps, there are more others people out there who do weird thing to prepare their self for their first baby but they are embarrassed to told the others .

I think it helps a lot with what we can learn: not think only in ourselves anymore, to worry about the healthy and happiness of another being, being responsible with hours and stuff. It's a great beginning to train with animals.
