My Playstation 3 doesn't read my external hard drive. HELP

Hi myLoters, i bought 1TB Iomega external hard drive the other day and it is working perfectly fine on my pc, the thing is my playstation 3 doesn't read it, my ps3 reads flash drives and what not but it doesn't read the hard drive, what could it be? I hoe anyone out there can help me
