Are you a Religious Person ?

I grow up being a catholic. But I am not fanatic about this. What is important to me is my faith in God , and doing things according to my conscience. My catholic friends persuade me to go to church every weekend. But, sometimes I find it hard to do it because of some reasons. Now, they were accusing me of losing my religion. I am just wondering , what makes a person religious?

What i know of what makes a person religious, is what you believe in. No one can tell or force any religion on you. You decide whether you believe or not. Being religious doesn't make you better than others as i have seen in my country. Having your faith and holding on to that, makes you better than those who just love to tell you that you are loosing your religion. TATA.

It seems we have the same point of view towards religion . We did things according to our conscience . Thanks Saphrina .

I have a good friend who use to be my boyfriend. He is a Christian and very religious. He even follows some of the old testament Jewish laws like not eating pork. I talked to a woman recently who attends a Bible study group and she doesn't believe in churches. And I can see that because it seems to me that churches run themselves like a business and that especially the big religions seem to be out for the money. And Jesus said that you can't serve God and money. Plus Jesus spoke of the giving of alms for the poor and tithing. Most big religions don't give that much of their collections to the poor; they probably give only a small percentage if they give at all. Anyway I don't think a person has to attend a church, or belong to a religion, to be a Christian. I think no matter what a person believes or doesn't believe they should just be "a good person".

Well, I could not say that when a person is always going to church he is religious. Being religious could be seen in the ways of a person. How he acts and treat others, He will spend time praying privately and of course a part is going to church. But there are people who are always attending church service but they are not religious. They just attend the service as ritual but not sincere in their faith.

Usually the definition of being religious is by attending the mass if not only every weekend then daily, always praying, joining religious organizations, and others that has something to do with the religion activities. But more so are they really valuing the word of God? For me it is not about the faith but on how are you going to project yourself that you really value the Christianity with sincerity from your heart and mind. A religious person is not something to protect their image reputation. We have to value the good deeds especially on how are we going to humble ourselves as well. I have heard other people who told me that their role model is Jesus Christ but then they are the arrogant one who can't have the patient or can't even control their anger. Yes! they are human but sometimes they are using God as for emotional blackmail.

Totally I'm an atheist. I think I myself can dominate me well, I don't need a god. But I think for a religious people, the most important thing is to follow his god's guide and behave morally. Going to church every Sunday is only a form to show the fact you believe Christ to other persons. It's not the essence.

Although I'm agnostic I agree with you that people don't need to go to church and whatnot if they want to be closer to their god i mean it's common sense because if you believe god is everywhere and not just at church then you can be sure that he's listening.
