I like Linux- especially the ubuntu version.- Its pretty safe since the administrative rights are strict on it. If the entire world used linux, they may end up having anti virus softwares installed anyways. People will always try to find a way around the protective shell of linux operating systems.

90% of users who use linux are geeks or have advanced knowledge in the field of computers. the layman will find the commands of linux very difficult to understand. There ARE viruses for linux (but very few when compared to windows) No, its not "fully" like windows...afterall you dont get the "WOW" feature in linux

I have been using Linux for 5 years now, all I can say it is far more better than crappy windows. We also use Mac in our office and it is even better than linux. Both of these OS share the same unix origin. Do you wonder why Linux/Unix does not get virus and yes they doesn't because the system is designed to be immuned to virus due to its robust system architecture design. Do you wonder why windows get a lot of virus? It is part of business, so people would buy anti-virus and I have a great intuition that these people who are selling anti-virus is the same people who are making the viruses, so people continue paying for the anti-virus not just once but for every versions and upgrades. In linux/unix you don't have to, cause whenever there is a vulnerability found in the Operating system, anyone from the community could patch it, which you couldn't do in windows. That makes free and open source software the best.
