People stopping you in the parking lot to ask for spare change

Usually when someone does this are you the type of person that would give the person some money? Or do you make up some excuse and tell them you don't have any change? I had to bring this up because of this incident that happened to me recently. I was getting off of work and this girl came up to me to ask for some spare change so she could pump gas in her car. I didn't think much of it so I dug around and gave her a few dollars and went on my way. But then a week later the same girl came up to me in the parking lot again to ask for some change. I didn't have any cash on me that day so I told her so. Then just a few days ago, I was at Raley's with my mom when the same girl approached me in the parking lot asking for change. I was like "WTH?" and told her I didn't have any. These three incidents happened in the span of one month so I was really having some doubts about this girl. I mean, a random stranger coming up to you asking for money isn't as strange if it's a one time thing but this was more than once. Now I'm suspicious and I don't think I'll be as helpful the next time she approaches me. Basically, do you help out people who stop you in parking lots asking for change? And if it's the same person more than once how would you react?

Hi Saizo, I would give change if I had it in exchange for a not but I wouldn't just gove it unless they were 1-p short for the meter as rates had gone up recently or something. This girl was doing no more than begging really and probably making a tidy profit each day from it. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ellie, that's what I was thinking too. I figured if she's low on gas then she shouldn't be driving around all over the place. I seriously think she needed the money for something else, that's why I didn't give any (even though I always carry some change on me) the other two times I saw her.
