what is the significance of tagging your response/discussion here in mylot?

i am just wondering, is it important to tag your discussion/responses here in mylot? because what i am doing is i just skip it...what is the purpose of tagging your discussion/response? anyone pls???

Sadly you are not alone. Very few Lotters, especially the newer ones, read the FAQs.
Look on the right --
That is an example of why tags are important and they will get your discussions seen on search engines too.

I always wondered that too.. I've heard someone say its important to tag your discussions so they can get into the "hot" section. I guess it makes your discussion easier for other people to find, and it can recommend discussions on the home page based on tags. I'm not 100 % sure though.
