Everything in the internet is a lie? When to believe if it is true?

Just a few days back I have started a discussion about what I have watched from youtube and it gives mostly a negaive feed back that it wasn't for real and it's just a fake. While others believe that most what you see in the internet are lies then why do we need to search for it for proofs in the internet if they won't believe in it in a first place? When and what will makes you believe that it was true? Would you question the credibility of the sites that gives the proofs?

You are just not sure what to believe on the internet anymore. Somethings might be truthful while others aren't. I say you always have to just make your own judgements on what is true and what isn't. As for proofs of say payments, I am sure there are ways to tell what is fake and what is not, such as if it's an unbelieveable amount, it's gotta be fake.

The best thing about the Internet is that people can put anything out there. The worst thing about the Internet is that anyone can really put anything that they want up there. The Internet is full of misinformation, from small lies to the hugest misinformation that you ever seen. There is some honesty shockingly enough buried within all the deceit. The best thing is to take everything with several grains of salt. There are people who might be telling the truth, but online, you can't really be for sure. There are a lot of people who misrepresent themselves and misrepresent their informations. There is no way to back it up but it is extremely hard to prove them wrong as well. That is the bad thing about the Internet, it is really a double edged sword and once there is one lie, then the credibility of everything is called into question.

Unfortunately, in the virtual world, the Internet, there are many people who are dedicated to providing false information, there are many scammers, hackers and not what else, but not all lies, is also the good and honest, the issue is knowing filter and find these sites. But it also happens in the real world, so we must continue to distrust and doubting everything until we see otherwise.

You have to be very critical when you read stuff on the Internet, this is completely true, because there are a lot of very strange things out there. I don't mean that everything is a lie, but you need to ask yourself: could this be true? Or does this seem like a lie? etc. when you read or see stuff online, and not take anything for granted.

There are really a big confusion regarding which is to believe. I saw videos on youtube of a NASA footage in the moon where in an Identified flying Object was captured by their camera and while every one saying that it is for real because it was from NASA itself others accusing it was fake.

There are sites that are very much trust worthy. For instance, you can expect about.com to always produce top notch articles due to their hard, long process of application for being a writer for them. Wikipedia has been recently accused of giving out false representation because anyone can edit the pages, however I still find it a valid source.

Ok this is just an example of what I'm trying to say. You just mentioned that Wikipedia has been accused of giving false representation but you don't have the link to the complain right? but if you provide a link to the actual complain or source of that information do you think would that be valid if the source is not credible? This is how people think when we create a discussion with out sufficient proof but when we provided them the proof they would say it's a fake.

Everything can be found in the internet including misinformation. We just have to be very careful to separate truth from false. Lets not take everything...hook, line and sinker. A proof presented could not assure the reality of what is posted. Everything can be manipulated now a days.

I saw your earlier discussion about what you saw on youtube. Well, something as incredible and unbelievable like "human eating fetus" will always be debatable; some people believe it and others don't. It does not mean everything on the internet is a lie. There are science, news and information that can help us understand more of what is happening in this world.

Unfortunately we live surrounded by cheating, lying, cheating, and all this brings you not to believe almost anything. One has to observe and analyze a lot of good steps that occur in life, in the virtual world, lends itself more to all this happen. But there is still good and honest people in this world, our job is to find and get together to defeat and eradicate all such acts.

That is an excellent question. Knowledge of the subject and research is the only way to verify anything. There is so much information on the information hwy. that it is difficult to believe anything that you read, I am a computer scientist, so if I run into a problem I will search the Internet, but guess what, half of what the people are saying will make my computer problem worse. It is only through my prior knowledge that I understand what is on the Internet. Nonetheless, if you do not have prior knowledge, then read different sources the library, or an experts' knowledge. The bottom line is the top line "Do not believe everything that you read!"
