Do you give alms to the poor?

for me personnaly, i only give alms to elder poor people. when i see them at the roadside, it really makes me feel sad.

I helped a boy who is from poor family suffered to pay his school fees,i personally helped him by paying the school fees.This was my first experience helping for the poor.

I didn't. Because I am poor myself. Hehe. If I meet a real poor man, I will do that. But I hate those professional beggars.

yeah, those professional beggars...they have no shame...though i can't blame all on them...it's hard to fight starvation

Ever in my life I did not give alms when it only refers to money for the beggars. Giving them money will make them dependent to us and that would lead them not to work and they will just always ask. What I did to them was just to give a little food and sometimes I invite some of them to clean in our yard and give them their wage. What I need is not to give them always a fish but to teach them how to fish so that they may live forever.
