How Extended is Your Family?

When we refer to a nuclear family, we refer to a mother, a father and all the children only. Beyond this consanguinity is what we call an extended family. Indeed we have inherent responsibilities to our immediate family and extended families, but up to what level do we consider immediate family or close relative? How about the in-laws? Are they supposed to be taken in as part of the family? Up to what level of consanguinity do we refer to one as distant relative?

M extended family has between thirty to forty members, all are blood related;) Quite big I know, but that is how it rolls in Moroccan families, just spreading as much babies as possible without little thought.;) I actually do not know some of my family members nor ever met them... Not even sure if that is all, or I might have more siblings that have been added to our family in the last few years;)
