how do you identify dogs

so my mom found this puppy dog and brought it to the house. im not sure what kind of dog it is. is there like a way to identify dogs? what would i look for?

do a research. find some pictures and find some that matches the looks of your dog. Or better ask experts. Or you could post a picture of your dog here so people get to identify your dog.
