The pursuit of happiness: How do you describe Will Smith's wifes attitude?

The movie thus shows a lot of challenges and lessons to reflect upon, but I was wondering why at a particular family crisis a wife would get lose and surrender being a mom, I'm referring to the wife of Will in this particular movie. Is this a picture of a Black American mother or its just something we could argue on?

No this is not only about a black american mom. I had a cousin who's wife left him and her four kids just because she didn't want to be a mom and she is white. So I think its has to do with the woman herself and what she is capable of dealing with or not. You would think after 4 kids though that you would have realized it early on that this was not for me. I consider these types of females as being very selfish. This is why I always say if you are a selfish person you should never become a mom or a dad.

My apologies on asking the traits of a black american ideals of a family but the point I was trying to get was the character itself in that movie, she's too selfish. That's a great point.

I dont think she's that selfish. I mean Will Smith in that movie is really struggling Im not sure if there's exaggeration there but as a wife she could no longer be with him. She left the kid because she don't want to take everything away from him. I think its more of selflessness on her part. The kid serve as an inspiration for him to continue if she took the kid with her it would have been a very different ending to the story.

I started to like Will Smith because of the movie The Pursuit of happiness. This is a touching movie. This is so bad that Will Smith's wife left them. I can understand that she can't suffer the poor life, but no matter what she can't leave her husband and especially her son. It's just so selfish. Unfortunately there are such kind of irresponsible moms and they are available in any races.
