I got out of the house today to go do a few errands that I had put off doing for a few days. I was off to the post office, to the super market and of course I had to take a trip to Walmart, which is always, night or day, rain or shine, filled to the brim with shoppers of all ages and nationalities. As usual, I couldn't find a parking spot, that is until a shopper came out ready to leave. I was lucky, she wasn't parked that far from the store, but I had to wait for her to finish loading her trunk with the goods. I often wonder where the people are getting all this money they are spending here. Well, today I was only spending $10.98 plus tax. The weeds are driving me crazy, so I am force to shoot them down with chemicals. Successfully parked, I walked into the store and headed to the lawn and garden section. I got my weed killer and looked for the shortest line to jump into before I was enticed to purchase something else. I am trying to be disciplined. I found one. Just my luck, a line with two cute unattended kids. The mother had gone two aisles over, to get a magazine that she just had to have. The children were very rambunctious, as normal as sun. The toddler was unstrapped with the cart's seatbelt, so he decided to stand up and when he did that, the little brother push the cart and down came the toddler, head first. Only the screams from both children brought the mother running, following was the store manager. It appeared that the toddler was okay because his little brother broke his fall, so he didn't fall to the floor directly from the cart. I can't imagine how much more serious this situation could have been if there was no little brother to break that fall. Parent's need to obey the rules and buckle those children in their car seats or shopping cart. Wherever, just buckle those kids up!!!!!!!!!

Phew! That would have been scary to see! You are absolutely right, parents should buckle their children up when they are sitting in shopping carts although I recall when my daughter was small enough to sit in a cart, a lot of the time the safety belts were broken! It is still no excuse because kids should not be left unattended in shopping carts and the mother walking away was a mistake. I am relieved that the child is okay. Yes more care people please; these are your precious babies!!!

Hi paula, It happen so fast!! I was right there, but there was not time to act, I just reacted in shock. The mother was beside herself, but I didn't feel sorry for her. She was irresponsible and could have cause her baby his life. Strapping the child in didn't guarantee that he would have been safe, but at least there would have been a chance that he would not have tried to get out in the first place.

Some parents just amaze me! Why did she leave those children for even a second? Aside from the cart for a minute, anyone could have grabbed them and took off with them. Now to the cart, those things can be really dangerous! Some parents should not be parents! I don't leave my children for a split second in a store, their my world and I don't want to lose them or anything to happen to them. What is this world coming to?

Hi lil, I know you would never to anything to jeopardize your children well being. I don't get what the mother was thinking or better yet, she was not thinking at all. By the grace of God the baby is okay. I agree, some people are not ready to be parents.

Hi cher, That is the truth, those shopping carts are dangerous. More the reason why the parent should have been right beside her baby, but instead she need to find a magazine. Her carelessness could have caused her child his life.

I agree with you but also the Mother if she was not planning on buckling in her toddler should of at least not left her kids un attended knowing anything could possibly happen....I never leave my 4 year old un attended in the store she has a tendancy to run off or hide but I am teacher her to stay by my side or in the cart she goes.

Hi BlueAngelRS, I think her priority was to find her magazine and the heck with the children. She probably had done this before and with luck, nothing happpened. One of these days, if she continues to do this, her luck will run out.

Hiya Angel, Never a truer word spoken a lot of these very young Children can barely sit up straight yet they are put in those seats with no safety of any kind at all. If you put your Shopping Trolley to close to theirs they try to climb into yours so if so sometimes I put mine right next to theirs and then they just generally entertain themselves trying to kick yours away instead it turns into a game instead of the other idea they usually have of trying to crawl into your Shopping Trolley usually because they are interested in what you have bought. So when they start kicking away I let them get on with it as their Mom sometimes has other kiddies to cope with too and I don´t mind them kicking away there they usually start talking and gurgling too and laughing so it all can change if you can see what the Child´s frame of mind is. Does not always happen that way but in Summer I find it happens much more as the kiddies are more tired and they get bored more easily and with Summer Clothes they have more room to move and climb around.xxx
