I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my first child, which is due in Jan. 2011. I am really nervous and worry a lot about what may or may not happen. Can anyone giveme some advice on what to expect during my pregnancy? Thanks. :)

As an 18 year old male I have no advice to give you, but this thread made me smile, you must be so nervous and excited. Is it a boy or girl? I wish you all the best, by the way is it the actual giving birth moment you are nervous about? You should push a lot and pretend it's constipation xD

:) LOL!! I am very excited to meet my child! I'm nervous about giving birth and things that could go wrong before and after...just not knowing is scary;but I guess that's life. I don't know if it's a boy or girl yet (I want a boy) and I can't wait to find out!!

Hi, Firstly, I would like to say congratulation, you are going to be a new mother soon. My advice to you is to have a healthy balanced diet and eat more nutrition food ,which is good for your coming baby. Also do some simple exercise which is good for pregnant mom. If possible, attend antenatal class which will give you better guidance on what food, what exercise and how to handle your coming baby. ON my first pregnancy, I did attend the free antenatal class which is engaged by my gynae,I learnt lot of things from there. when your pregnancy reached 5 months, there is possiblity your gynae able to tell you the baby gender, once you have known the baby gender, you can start to buy some baby clothes and other necessary things for your coming baby. Start to look for best name for your baby.Get a confinement lady to serve you for the first month and also buy some necessity for yourself during your confinement period. I got an advice from eldest folk to eat birdnest during pregnancy which is good for our baby. Your baby body will be stronger and also have stronger bone. Also drink plenty of water and have more walks throughout your pregnancy which may give you easier for delivery. You also need to make decision whether to go for normal or c-section. From my experience, I was on c-section,last minutes decision and I don't feel the pain throughout the whole process, only the next day, when I tried to wakeup and walked, I felt terrible pain on my abdomen area. and I have to wake up in the correct position to avoid my wound get hurt. Not to worry too much, at this moment, you just need to take good care of yourself and welcome your baby next year. Wish you have a smooth delivery!!
