Smuggling Snacks

So I was watching the Simpsons the other day and an episode came on that involved Lisa running away, and on one scene they showed people getting search at the theaters for smuggling snacks. It was pretty funny in context but I was wondering have you ever snuck in food at the theaters? Do you think they should allow this type of behavior? I know it takes away from their main income... but what are your thoughts?

Some businesses will check your bags for safety's sake these days anyway, so sneaking food in for some people really isn't an option in these parts. I can totally understand the smuggling though. Candy is marked up four times and more what it's cost is in a normal grocery store. Drinks are also sky high. Half the time you get miserable service in the long lines. $10 for a regular sized drink and a small container of popcorn isn't exactly my idea of value. I RARELY go to the theaters anymore because of the exorbitant costs. I realize folks are trying to make bank on their bills in this economy, but gee whiz. For me, I compare it to sporting events; I'd rather stay home and watch the game on ESPN and avoid the crowds, the drunks (and therefore the "party til you pukers"), the additional parking fees and even worse the LONG trek to the arena from the netherregions of the lot (which I always seem to get). The etiquette inside the theater itself... didn't parents teach their kids manners? SHUT UP while the movie is on. Turn of the effing ringers on your phones and better yet, DON'T answer it (unless you're a doctor or something and need to save someone, yeah, that I can understand).

LOL that is so true. I think the whole outing thing has gotten a little miserable, and I never go opening week to any movie no matter how good. I think people are just way to rude now a days. People treat the theater like its their home and not a public place... I guess its the dark lighting that makes people feel secluded and private XD thanks for posting!

I always sneak in snacks. Most of the employees don't care; only the managers. I especially like drive-in theaters because you can sneak in a whole ton of food in your car. Haha. The way I see it, if they want me to buy their food, they shouldn't make me wait forever in a ridiculously long and annoyingly loud line to buy some junk for an outrageous price. It's a waste of money and time. The movies are expensive enough, especially now that everything is in 3D. They don't need to charge that much.
