So, I drive my family crazy because all I really watch is the Food Network. I love to cook and really want to advance my skills and learn to make new things, it is just really hard to get all these ingredients when I live in a small town and have no money. Any recommendations for learning to cook for free?

Hi. misscadillac. Welcome to myLot! If you are on EBT Foodstamps you could use the little bit of money that you have and create many unique dishes with it. That is what I would do if I had less money. I plan to do this, this summer because I would like to taste the many different dishes that I can eat. Just because you are low on cash, does not mean that should not enjoy yourself with the little bit that you have.

I know they make lots of tasty things on those cooking shows. But the reality of it is that we all don't have the means to obtain many of the tools & ingredients. Honestly, I'm not going to go out of my way to buy something I would only use in one recipe as I've found myself wasting items because the food I bought it for was not as good as I thought & forgot about the ingredient til it was yucky. What I would do is make a list of things your family likes to eat. Then do searches on those ingredients. That way you can use what you have on hand and available to you instead of looking for something beyond your means & availability.

There are lots of recipes online and those are free... but ingredients for free? that would be hard. I gues you can try to make your own garden of herbs and spices. If you produce more than you need you can even make money out of it.
