The only blackberry I have used is the curve and I didn't use it for to long as I just didn't like it all the well. Lost of people use the iphone, and I have seen it, but I have never used one, as I am with Verizon and they don't have it. I have an ipod touch and it is as close to an iphone that I am going to get. I think though that it really depends on what kind of features you want on your phone, as some have more than others, and we know that the iphone has lots of apps, and I think that is why it is so popular. I think the best thing to do would be to check them both out and see which one would work the best for you, as I really can't tell you which is better. Take care and have a good day.

Depends on what you wanna use it for. I've used iphone 3g & 3gs & blackberry bold 9700. I didn't really care for iphones at all. I mean if you wanna watch tv or play games then ok. Do you really wanna use your phone to watch hd movies? May be you do & it's ok if you do. How many times are you gonna use video calls & how many people do you know as of now that has it? So just to use once or twice to have video calls? Like you said, iphone to me felt more like toy than a business tool, or even a phone. May be it's just me. I do use my phone for work & personal reasons & blackberry worked fine for me. I'm not saying blackberry is the best thing since the sliced bread. It has it's down falls, too. Because of my work, I go through somewhere between 2,500 - 3,000 minutes of voice calling a month & few thousands of messaging, not counting emails, every month. Blackberry handled everything I needed it to do & nothing extra to weigh it down. I would pick blackberry but it's just me.
