If you Add all the hours you worked vs. the time you spent with your family, what would have more hours? Please Post your Hours! Work VS. Family! What do you do about making anything different?

When I worked the last job I had kids were gone form home and I could work tte hours I wanted too . Most times it was 8 hours but when we had a big order to get out could run to 16 hour days. Retirement is time to really spend with family adn then sometimes that can get way over the time I ever work.

I have worked for almost 14 years, 8 hours a day plus 4 hours of travel to and from home. I find it very rewarding whenever my children wait for me at the gate and come rushing to hug me. Since I was on a shifting schedule,I make it a point that we have time for each other during my rest days. That was before, I have all the time for my family now. I resigned from work since last year. The feeling is great although I find it more stressful with 4 active children...at least I have them now at the same time I find new friends here at mylot and to other social networking sites.

Well that is life! If would be hard to spend all the time at home with your family while you have work to do. As for me I am a working mother so everyday except Sunday, I am always in the office and therefore away from home from 6 to 8 am. I can only give 3 hours a day for the family. If I would have my way, I would rather just spend all my time with them. But that can't be possible for even my husband and my son works too and we all just meet each other during the night.

I defenatly understand that we have to work. but have you realized that we give most of our time to work, and left over to our loved ones?

How tbdsoccer, You are correct, most of our time is spent away from the family. We are working more and more hours to pay for all the luxuries we can't seem to live without. I think everyone in the family loses so much affection and quality time with each other. When the children get home from school, the home is void of mom's voice asking, "how was your day, honey?" Or, there is no cookie and a cold glass of milk waiting for them. But, there is a big screen television waiting for them, which has no parent controls in place. Parents, know there is dsyfunction in the house, but it is difficult to change once you have the habit of earning and spending. The money, luxuries, and social status has replace the values that comes alone with having quality family time. I don't have little ones to come home to, so I can afford to be a career woman. However, I was once a working mom and I did still did quality activities with my family.

Well for me I have a balance between the two because some days I will find myself spending half the day with the family and then the rest of the half I will be working. Working brings in the money to help support a family the two are necessary to make a balance kind of like jin and jang or however you spell that, but yeah.I surrender to both family and working.

Well, personally, I am working very hard now, so I can have more time with my family in the future. At the moment, I don't have a kid, just a fiancee, so I am trying to make money to be able to work less when I do have a kid. So working is not always a bad thing, working too much all your life is though!

I work very long hours for peanuts these days, however I feel I have a balance between the two. As when duties calls my PC and earnings must wait as family does come first. If ever I spend a full day with my family then I will work later that night to try and make up for it. However I have had some days where the heck with it all I need rest too.
