I have had fourteen years now of being a Nana !! I now have 7 granddaughters and two grandsons and have a new grandchild duein 6 weeks. It is so much fun being a Nana, all the fun without as much of the responsability there was when their mum's were kids!! I usually have at least two of my grandkids staying with me in the school holidays - as I do now, I do miss all the others since we moved but we stay in touch between visits by phone, Facebook etc. Here is the latest picture I have recieved of my eldest daughter's four daughters - Bethany, the eldest was my first grandchild - born just 11 weeks after my own son!! It was taken last week in Disneyland Paris (Minnie Mouse isn't my granddaughter by the way -= I'm not THAT old!!) Do you have big familieas and are you seperated by distance like we are?

I love being a grandma too! For all the same reasons you mention. It's so nice to sit back and be able to enjoy the child without having to worry about all the parenting stuff. I have only one grandchild, a girl, she will probably be my only one... For the first 6 years of her life I was her caregiver and homeschool tutor. But she has moved to Japan with her parents and I haven't seen her for 6 months. I miss her alot, but look forward to seeing her again soon when she comes for a visit.

WoW! I am not a grandmother yet but it seems the happiness of being one is incomparable. My mother told me that she love her grandsons and granddaughters more than us. I just wonder how she can say that. HEHEHE! But it's ok. Maybe when we are young she can spank us when we do bad but she can't do it to his grandchildren. She sometimes get mad at us if we discipline our children in a physical way sometimes.

By now, three weeks later, your newest grandchild is due in three weeks! I can imagine you're quite excited about that! At one time, my husband and I were in Texas for 10 years and then we moved to Arkansas because hubby was in the Army. Both of our families lived in Virginia which is quite a ways away but we stayed in contact through expensive phone calls till the phone company lightened up on the cost of those long distance phone calls. When we were finally able to afford a computer, we did get one and wow! Our phone bill went down considerably! LOL Great picture of the girls with Minnie Mouse!

I am also happy for the happiness you feel, nana .... I'm also from a large family. We were six brothers and have given seven grandchildren to my parents. We split up in various cities in Indonesia and we can only gather together at the Feast

It has hard being seperated but then I think that the old saying 'absence makes the heart grows stronger' is true and reunions are so much fun1
