So.. as I mentioned in another post... there are many people here today without cell phones... and it is almost mandatory to have one nowadays to stay in contact. Even though this offer isn't as great as the one with Assurance Wireless.. it's something better than nothing. This is also a free phone with free services offered. Unlike Assurance Wireless, this phone actually has text messaging inclusive at 30 seconds being removed from the phone per text. With this phone, however, you only receive 68 monthly minutes and they DO rollover. This phone is offerred through Tracfone and is offered to those unemployed or that fall under the requirements of WIC, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc. The link below can tell you how to sign up, provide you with more information and this free phone varies by location as well. Check it out if you're interested!! www.safelinkwireless.com

Someone mentioned this to me a few weeks ago. My mother just told me that my sister got the safelink phone in the mail the other day. I am eligble but since I have local landline telephone service where I already receive $10 off my bill every month from the lifeline program I cannot get this cell phone! I thought it would be awesome but it wont work out for me. Thats ok I'm happy with the $10 off my landline phone bill each month.

That's crazy!! I have never heard of that. I would try again periodically just to see if they would accept my application. They also have "upped" the monthly amount of free minutes. Now it is 250 free minutes per month (in this area). You should check it out again. www.safelinkwireless.com

Yes I saw they had 3 kinds of plans that you could choose from. If I didnt need my landline I would just get rid of it and get the free cell phone but I need my landline and getting the $10 off works good for me. But yes I could always check back periodicly to see if they change the rules or something.

Safelink has it now where you can go to there website and change the number of minutes to 125 per month with roll over or 250 a month without roll over.
