Why do people choose the best topic to discuss about?

I see that people choose the topic to be discussed very carefully in order to get more responses. Moreover, people who participate in discussion boards choose the topics given by others based on two things - one will be the elegance shown by the title and the second will be the responses already received in the discussion. If there are more than three discussion participants in it already, then obtaining more number of participants is easy due to the second reason. How come some people ignore topics which have not been touched by others...? I mean, is it not against the logical meaning of "discussion"? And why do some people ignore or show no interest in most of the other topics?

I think people try to choose the best topic to discuss because they think it would be the best for them to share their thoughts, also the most common topics that remains active in mylot are the interesting ones, they are the "best" and they are what people "like" to talk about... For me though, i look at pretty much all the topics i can answer, not only those that are relatively active... i also answer or reply to those even with no responses...

I agree with you.. However, don't you think we should be able to discuss about topics which could be a bit dull and by picking only the "best" ones, people do not treat all the aspects of our lives in equal proportions?

That is a very interesting question. I enjoy reading about different things, so I like new topics to discuss. Great question, I'm anxious to see what others say.

People's interests can be different of course. When I make postings, I often choose a subject matter which I would like to share with my fellow myLotters from countries around the world, and on which I would like to have their views and opinions. Responses vary depending on the their interests and preferences, of course.

Mylotters tend to ignore or leave other discussions with no responses maybe because they are not interested with the topic, they have nothing to share about the discussion or they just don't feel like commenting on it.
