Get lost often? Do you think GPS navigator(Exmp: GARMIN NUVI, PAPAGO etc) is necessary, or get a GPS phone? (Such as Nokia 5800 etc?)

If you are a light gps user, use once in a while when looking for places while not driving, then gps phone is ok. But if you are heavy gps user, rely on gps while driving, then gps navigator is very much recommended over gps phone. gps navigator is usually more driver friendly, with faster response and seldom has 'hang' problem unlike gps phone.

I do agree on that, but sometimes my garmin nuvi 250w do hang to. It shuts down and turn on again. Anyway, cellphone gps do hang more often. Anyway, the good thing of having a gps enabled phone is, you don't have to bring 2 devices to the places you go. Now i have a car holder for my nokia 5800, i'm relying more on my nokia instead of garmin. Furthermore, currently my garmin is broken... :(

Hi there: I use a GPS device in my line of duty. It is Hollux WT350. It has great features even without memory for maps. The basic information on latitude and longitude readings, speed, altitude, time travel, greenwich mean time (GMT) and calendar are very accurate: up to 96 percent. The only thing I hate about this whole thing is its battery usage. I have to put in 4 double "A" size batteries that would last only 4 hours of continuous operation especially at night when I have to use the LCD backlight. If the GPS enabled cellphone could get the basic accuracy as dedicated GPS, I would go for it. Actually I'm on the market to acquire one.

It is true that the time to identify location by using GPS enabled cellphone is far slower than a GPS device. Anyway, some of the phones do have much more longer battery retention and can work for long hours. Anyway, you will need to survey first as some phones do consumes lots of memory and power when using internal GPS and might only last for 1-2 hours with GPS on. Do some basic research first regarding how long the battery can last or you might be wasting money and time purchasing a cellphone that cannot last long with GPS on the full time. All the best and good day!

I think it's easier with phones. I have nokia x6 and the navigation is free. It's easy when you have the navigatro always in the pocket.

I like the idea of portable device with multiple function. I am also using nokia 5800 with both ovi maps and Garmin XT installed. Prior to that i am also using Garmin Nuvi 205w. However, i found out that GPS reception for garmin is much better than reception from the phone(especially if using only integrated GPS). It would be perfect if the signal reception for mobile is as good as GPS devices :D
