stranger trying to add me in their ym friends list

recently strangers are trying to add me in their ym list.. its weird coz as far as i know i dont just post my ym id anywhere.. i dont add strangers in my list.. i deny them specialy if they dont introduce themselves.. there is this one person who keeps trying to add me, i asked her if i may know here, but she just tried to add me with a message asking me if i could add her so we can chat..
i wonder where these people got my ym id.. 
do you have this experience too|?.. do you just add anybody on your list?

I guess they happened to see your profile in somewhere else, whereby your yahoo ID is posted along with it?? It's quite commmon to see MSN, yahoo ID, facebook ID being posted..
Thus i wont be surprised to know that.. Or maybe your friends might be the one giving away your IDs or misusing it, thus u got unwanted attention??

yeah.. but i dont really give my ym id... i dont display it in any of my profiles.. i wonder if spammers got it from yahoo itself

Just be careful. Some could be scammers, some are simply bots that could be sources of worms or other spyware. I think YM still has so many security holes that malware makers exploit.
I have receive a lot of those also, but I rarely use the YM these days.

hehehe.. me too, i rarely use my ym.. and im thinking the same thing.. these invitations could be just from people trying to spam my ym.. that's why i dont really accept strangers, beside from crowding my ym..

I honestly don't add people I don't know to my personal account. Its just not safe, especially when you don't even know where they get to know about your account.lol I'm very careful about posting my personal email. But sometimes, its inevitable especially if you join different sites where they require you to put a valid email address. Anyway, in case you mistakenly added someone at ym, you can always try and block the user. =)

yeah... me too.. i make sure that my email is private.. probably they got my id from those sites i have joined.. i dont know..

Hi Juciekodai. There are many strangers that can see your ID on the net all they have to do is search the ID's and find someone they want to add to their YM. I wouldn't add anyone to my YM if I don't know them. When they ask to be added you can look at their ID and see who they are. If you don't know them don't let them on your YM or you might be sorry.

I have a similar experience with this, I think they could search your name freely from the net or from yahoo search engines for this fact..
