I used to put single word tags on discussions. But lately I have been tagging short phrases on each discussions I started or responded to. Which is better? Single words or short phrases? And by better I mean what is better for myLot... I really need an answer so I can either continue what I am doing or change it.

I use both, dear. Sometimes a single word is good enough as a tag for a particular discussion. But,it shouldn't be the single and lone word in your tag -especially in the discussion you have started. Sometimes, I do use phrases when I need to be precise with the topic. Tags are used to help other users find our discussions more easily. So, either way, as long as it will lead to your discussion / significant to the topic, is ok.:) Have a blessful day, Damned_dle.:)

I always thought that tags should be just short effective words that will help people find certain topics and discussions. There is no problem writing out several words as a tag as well as long as it would be common for someone to go type that in if they were looking for a certain discussion, as I said above they should be helpful for people.

Herro damned_dle We meet again. I use both single word and short phrase. Contrary to one comment above, using tags is helpful for those of use that search. When you don't use tags, I cannot find the discussion. Sometimes I want to come back to a discussion later after I have thought about it. There was one yesterday regarding food stamps. I searched for it and could not find it because the newspaper headline was used as a tag. I looked for food stamps. I attempt to use short, concise tags. If necessary I don't always use the discussion tags, because I forget to write them down. I like tags. They help me find interesting discussions. Prosperous mylotting

I use single words. I don't use phrases. I just thought that single words would be more effective for tags as opposed to phrases.

Well... I don't really bother about those tags. As if I create a discussion I automatically get many tags from the responders and also myLot only allow the best 5 tags to be shown. I think just using a single word is good for tag as they are quite useless. Though adding phrases can be made sometime too. Enjoy myLot!

I usually separate out words so that it will show up in the search engine.
