Quibids-Don't Waste Your Money!Penny Auction Rip Off

I saw some news channel online boast about the great deals you can get on Quibids "auction" site. I got interested and bought for $27 their baby bid pack of 45 bids. Each bid costs you $.60. Considering I won my bids around 2am and hardly anyone was up, it seemed really easy. I won a $10 gift card to Ruby Tuesdays restaurant. The bidding stopped at $.20. Each bid brought the price up by 2 cents. This means that 10 bids were placed on this item, and Quibids made $6.00. I also won a Borders $10 gift card for just one bid. I also won a bid back of 15 bids for not that much. So, for my $27, I ended up with $20 of goods. However, the shipping costs are about $2 per card, and even if you win a bid pack and it's an immediate electronic transfer to the Quibids account, they charge over a dollar for that too. The next day, I have Quibids fever, and used the remaining bids I had to try to win more bids, hoping to win something better than a cheesy gift card to a restaurant I really don't want to go to anyway. I never got to Borders or Ruby Tuesdays. Well, I am convinced they use Bots to bid, because I took yesterday off and from early morning to late afternoon, I saw the same user names bidding constantly on everything from bid pack to electronics. What really dumbfounded me, is that some of these usernames were bidding on 3 different items at the same time. Needless to say, I lost all of my bids, and was unable to compete with these bots. Trying to bid on a 15 bid pack, the same one I won the day earlier in my first bid(a beginning bid where no one bid on the item and I won with just one bid)was impossible. I had already used bids in attempts to win, but the irony here is, when you bid, the clock resets to 20 seconds, and them more people keep bidding. It is impossible to win. I wish I had never wasted my $27 on this lame site. I should have stayed with Ebay.

That sounds totally illegal. Unless it was an Ansel Adams or famous portrait. Misrepresentation.

I'm sorry you lost your money. it's too bad that you wasted it. You probably could have found a better deal on eBay.

I've seen a few websites like that. It seems to be the newest thing. It is a rip off though. For some of that stuff they are making a lot of money on it if a lot of people bid on it. I've heard some sites seem to use bots to drive up the bids. I don't know if any of them are really legit sites. I just stick to ebay too. I'd rather know I'm going to get the stuff rather than wasting money bidding and not getting anything for it. At least with ebay if I bid on something and don't win, I don't lose anything.

You're right about that. Sometimes I have won stuff and still not paid on Ebay. I know it's bad, but I changed my mind, or decided I needed the money.

It's terribly addictive-like gambling. It's an evil vice and the CEO is banking on feeding this addiction to win. What they don't mention, is that it is nearly impossible to predict when you can win or SHOULD bid.
