I saw in Saksi, the news program in channel 7 that there are cheaper meat products from Canada. I think that these should not be granted access to our market because we are not helping our local entrepreneurs. That is too bad

These Imported products are indeed cheaper but the taste would be different since these frozen commodities are treated with a good amount of preservatives, WE happened to try the chicken legs,P50/kilo (frozen like steel) all i can say is there is no taste at all.

There you go. I guess it all boils down to preferences then.

Well white people eat bland food so its not surprising that their meat products are bland. Meat products like bacon, sausage may be cheaper but not in agreement with Filipino palate. Maybe the food you bought are expired. I think people will buy the imported for they are cheaper. The way you cook them affects their flavor a lot so maybe Filipinos will adjust to that no taste chicken you were saying. That is what will happen. That is my opinion.

I think people should be given a choice. And I agree with Gorillafootprints925, it is how you will cook it anyway. Want something tastier, then go ahead buy one, if you can't afford it settle for something less. Besides I don't think taste matters much, for someone who is hungry.

Its true that it does affect our local entrepreneurs but its a free market as long as the meat from the other countries are safe then I guess no problem but yeah it should be regulated in a way that we will not be flooded by these imported meat.

That would probably threaten local meat dealers. This will surely affect their source of income. I hope there will be regulations for imported meats.

Cheaper by how much? A little bit of competition wouldn't hurt the market IMO. Levels the playing field.

If Canada can market a low-price meat, then Filipino can. It's time to stop a monopolar market...
