Just watched Terry Jones Barbarians about the Celtic society and how romans were jealous of their huge stockpile of gold and how they killed millions to get their hands of them. Turns out the celts weren't so primitive barbarians the romans wanted us to believe. They had a much more complicated calender and more fair laws for its people. Also the romans weren't the first road builders, the celts made roads of huge timber to avoid walking in swamps and drowning. I recommend you guys to go watch it, kind makes the romans look like barbarians hehe.

There is even further speculation in anthropological circles that the Celts brought the nifty invention of the wheel to the attention of the Far East even though the Sumerian wheels far outdate the Asian ones. As for the whole Romans v. Celts, many today side with the Celts because we now see the ancient Romans as greedy bullies and we now blame what was left of the Roman Empire for the introduction of the Great Plague to the Western World. Funny thing is, when you look at societies from the eyes of anthropologists, very few, even ancient societies, look primitive.
