I started a similar discussion about a year ago and didn't get much response. However, I really enjoy serial killer movies/tv shows and am looking to see if there are any good ones that are must sees. I have 3 on Ted Bundy and a really good one called Karla. I think the fictional ones as well, like The Life of David Gale. Do you guys have any recommendations or don'ts?

The Silence of the Lambs and Seven are two of the best serial killer movies I have seen. Recently, there was a series called Red Riding which is also pretty good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Riding All these movies have excellent plots in addition to the serial killings. These mostly involve the investigation into the serial killings which make the movie more interesting. Sometimes, Discovery Channel has non-fictional shows on investigations of serial killings which are always very interesting to watch.

I loved Silence of the Lambs, it was great. I am not sure that I have seen Seven. Thanks for the info, I will have to check out the series.

Why are you secretly training to become a serial killer? Joking! As you seeking movies based on fiction or those based on reality? I see someone has mentioned Saw, that's a good series... there's also the hostel series. There's one based on cannabalism, though can't remember who it's based on.

Darn, my secret is out!!! Just kidding, no I used to want to be a profiler and am still very into true crime and the "mind" behind the terrors we see today. I love the show The Profiler for that reason. I think I have seen part of Hostel. I really am interested in the non-fiction movies, however, if the fictional one is good I will watch those as well. I really liked Silence of the Lambs, and the TV show Dexter. I watched American Psycho last night and was unimpressed. Are you thinking of Dahmer?

I think the entire "Saw" series of movies is pretty good. The first one is a little cheesy, but it sets a good scene for the rest of them. There are 6 out, I believe, and I think there is supposed to be one more. It's a very good storyline that unfolds from movie to movie, although I have to admit the most recent movie is not as good as the rest of them.

Hi Amy, I would recommend reading "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, if you haven't read the book.
